1. Overview

Typika (“the Extension”) is a browser extension that lets you inspect fonts on web pages by hovering over text. This policy explains what data is collected and how it is used.

2. Data We Collect

The Extension uses self-hosted Matomo Analytics — an open-source analytics platform — to collect anonymous usage statistics. The following events are recorded when they occur:

install	When the Extension is installed for the first time
startup	Each time the browser starts with the Extension installed
activate	When the user clicks the Extension icon to activate it on a page
font-click	When the user clicks a font name to search for it or open it in Google Fonts
open-settings	When the user opens the tooltip animation settings via the context menu

No personal information (such as your name, email, or browsing history) is collected or transmitted.

3. Data Transmitted

When the events above are triggered, a request is sent to the analytics server. Each request includes:

• The event name and category (e.g. Plugin / activate)
• A randomly generated anonymous visitor ID, stored locally in the Extension (chrome.storage.local) and never linked to your identity
• Session counters (visit number, timestamps of first and previous visits) — all derived locally
• Your browser’s language setting (e.g. ru-RU)
• Approximate geographic location (country, region, city) derived from your IP address
• A synthetic URL of the form https://extension.typika.ru/Plugin/activate included as a required field — this is an internal event identifier, not a real website

IP addresses are partially anonymized before storage (the last portion is masked) and are used solely to determine approximate location. No full IP address is retained. No cookies are used. The analytics server is self-hosted and operated by the Extension developer; data is not shared with third parties.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

The Extension does not:

• Read, store, or transmit the content of web pages you visit
• Collect your browsing history
• Transmit font names, page URLs, or any page content to any server
• Use cookies or browser fingerprinting
• Share data with advertising networks or data brokers

All font inspection happens locally in your browser.

5. Permissions

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab	To inspect fonts on the currently active tab when you activate the Extension
scripting	To run the font inspection script on the page
search	To open a search for a font name when you click on it
contextMenus	To add options to the Extension’s right-click menu
storage	To save your language preference and the anonymous visitor ID locally
windows, tabs	To open and focus the log viewer window

6. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the Last updated date above. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
